Academic Written English: A Special Kind of Written English
On 25 Sept 2020 (Fri), the Department held a Zoom session entitled “Academic Written English: A Special Kind of Written English”, attracting around 75 postgraduate students of the School of Arts and Social Sciences. In this two-hour session, Dr Jonathan Ngai outlined features of academic writing and showed participants how to adopt the style of writing with examples. The participants thoroughly enjoyed the seminar and found the content useful.
About the Series:
Zoom in on English is a series of Zoom talks which enables current MAAELF students as well as other PG students of A&SS to explore various aspects of English. Specifically, two talks scheduled for 2020 Autumn are devoted to the use of English for academic purposes. Four talks to be held monthly between February and May in 2021 Spring engage with English and English learning in a range of non-academic contexts.
